ROD Journal #2

Here is a Remains of the Day (ROD) journal I made mostly from pages I received in a swap. There are 2 signatures with 6 pages in each one. The cover is made from melted plastic bags with stitching over the top, inspired by the "Shopper's Joy Book" in Eco Books. I'll fill up this journal with travel pictures from my upcoming trip in August.I received some beautiful swap pages:I'm still not sure how I feel about this style of journal making. I was so excited about it when I started the ROD class but I don't know if I'll be comfortable working in a journal that is so visually busy to start with. I'm going to plunge in and add words and pictures during my trip and see how I feel about it then. Can't really tell if it will work for me if I haven't actually tried it out!

  1. this looks like something i'd like to try one day. the look of it makes me want to root through the pages and see what i can find. but the actual thought of having that as my own journal seems like it would overwhelm with all the "busy"ness of it. (alright, busted. i just like looking through other people's journals. no surprise there!)

  2. Hey, thanks for your visit! I think it will work to add little thoughts here and there, because it is beautiful. When i made mine (as you'll see in the video) I made sure I had plenty of space to write and add things in later, maybe you can plan for that when you make your next one, or add in extra pages with tape here and there! :-)

  3. I tried to leave you a comment on Smugmug about your neat deer creature with the blue antlers. I love it and your cats are great. It kept saying I needed to put in a spammers code, but there wasn't one. I hate smugmug and have never gotten it to cooperate with me. I even quit a course I was taking because it wouldn't upload my work correctly. Weird. You do some neat things.

  4. I like this idea of making your own book/journal out of other materials. The colorful chair in the third picture is nice. So often I come across shopping bags, junk mail flyers, and pictures in magazines that are so pretty it seems a waste to just throw into the recycle bin. It looks like you sewed the pages together with a sewing machine, this should be even more interesting with your own pictures and words filled in. Great idea!
